Studio, six hours; outside study, nine hours. Preparation: completion of preparation for the major courses. Use of video technology (video systems, cameras, displays, editing, and storage) to integrate image, sound, time, and motion. Emphasis on expression, continuity, and sequential patterns for video communication.

Scott Hessels is the writer and producer behind Damaged Californians, a media arts collective that, over the last twelve years, has released an oddball array of work ranging from films to music to video shorts to performance art to stage plays to websites. His videos were multiple award-winners on the international film festival circuit and have been included in several museum retrospectives, his website was nominated for "Cool Site of the Year", and a CD compilation of his musical scores became popular on college radio. His 16mm film "-30/+10,000" was a success on national cable and he is about to release his 35mm theatrical debut, "Wanderlust". Scott is also Manager of Operations for KCOP Television, a UPN affiliate, and independently produces web events for corporate clients. Before coming to UCLA, he previously lectured at USC and taught at Otis College of Art and Design.

Sara Jordeno is an MFA candidate in the Art Department at UCLA. She works in the related fields of critical documentary, performance, conceptualism and new media art.
