Comments on Games

Most people games – similarly as mine – were not in a fully playable state so my comments may not be extremely meaningful, but I’ll give it a shot

The purpose of the game was not immediately clear, and the range of available actions quite limited. The art style is interesting though.

Well, You can move the player and jump around and the tile engine is working. You should definitely address the fact that tiles visibly appear when you scroll. Although I like your retro/PixelJam style you should add more color and detail to give it some personality.

The 4-way split screen is really neat. Although I am not quite used to play FPS games without mouse and keyboard, I think the controller scheme works. You should really consider to actually allow player to go through trees to hide. Also vary the walking speed of the various characters to make the gameplay more interesting. May be a limited time boost could be an interesting feature for a tag game like this.

The game is simple, but the concept of the game is very interesting (especially for younger kids!). As someone said, you should adress the fact that people can go over the actual sum by adding negative numbers as well. This will make the gameplay more interesting too. The came can become kind of repetitive after a while though, so I thing you should add bonus and other additions to make the game more varied. Also it would be interesting if you could let players choose somekind of difficulty level, so that the game may have a better replay value.

The graphics of your game, of course, is totally awesome! I felt there is something not completely right with the control, so you may have to spend some time tweaking it. Also I would make the zooming more gradual, because at the current speed it was a bit disorienting, but that may just as well be due to the lack of background graphics as reference.

I like the view point of your game from the top: it reminds me a lot of the first few GTA games. The idea of the arrows to spot your enemies is also very nice. At this point, you may need to improve the controls, make big maps, and of course add a lot of cool weapons.

Unfortunately I did not full understand your game at first. However, I think your ideas is vey cool after I understood it. One criticism that I have is that the pacing of the game is too slow, and there isn’s much of an incentive to beat the other player other than time. Aslo, like in tetris I think the next shape to come should be chosen at random and not by the player. Lastly, you work a bit on the controls. The psyschic effect that drags the bodies is just too slow.
