This week I added characters to Psychic Construction Company.  Although they don’t add much in single player, characters are very important in multiplayer.  The first purpose of characters is simply to keep them out of the way.  You can only place blocks when your character is standing on a flat surface, and if you get hit in the head with a block you’ll be stunned.  The second purpose of characters is visual; animations related to the characters will help you keep track of what you’re doing, and also allow your opponents to see what you’re doing; the stand in for this is different colored heads depending on your task.  Finally, characters are involved in attacking.  In multiplayer you gradually gain energy in several ways: automatically over time, by ‘charging’ with X, and whenever your opponent creates a block.  Energy can be used to fix your blocks in place, and also to attack.  In attack mode, you can either shoot energy balls at your opponent’s structure, or you can ‘melt’ his blocks.
