Lilypadd is meant to be a children’s game for practicing addition and subtraction. Frogs jump from one lily pad to the next either adding or subtracting the numbers they show. Each lily pad is one of five colors, each representing a different way to hinder an opponent’s progress toward reaching the goal number. To activate […]

Latest LilyPadd Prototype
get it.
I’ve added some sound, a new power up and some instructions. I’m currently working on the info bar, which will soon tell players the scores, if they are adding or subtracting and how many of a particular color they have collected. Then I need to differentiate between the frogs somehow and start working on […]
First Playtest
I had two of my floor mates playtest my game. One is a female political science major who claims to be “stupid at math” and the other is a hardcore gamer studying computer science. As I had hoped, both players held their own and had a great deal of fun. On the up-side, the game […]
LilyPadd Update
Here’s a demo.
This version includes a kind of power up that allows a player to screw over whichever player is in the lead. If one frog lands on three lily pads of the same color in a row, the frog with the most points will lose all of them & it’s score will be zero. […]
LilyPadd Sounds
A list of all the sounds I think I’ll need:
-Selection sound for menus
-Jumping sounds
-Ambient sound, possibly music
-Sound for the frogs landing on lily pads, ripple effect
-Sounds that indicate the start of the round, or the amount of time until then
-End of level “winner” sound
LilyPadd Beginnings
Here’s my game prototype
There is still a lot of work to be done in order to make the game play smooth and natural, and of course I have a long way to go with the graphics (they’re pretty ugly right now). But now the structure is in place, so now I can do many iterations […]
Lilypadd Schedule
So far I’ve gotten the basic motion down. The graphics are just colored circles for now, but one character can jump from lily pad to lily pad and its score is tallied.
Week 5- Get second player working.
Week 6- Graphics and animation.
Week 7- Fine tune gameplay.
Weeks 8-10 Test, debug & continue to fine tune gameplay & […]
Lilypadd
For my final game project, I chose to create Lilypadd, a kind of kids’ game in which players race to numbered lily pads trying to add up numbers to equal a number chosen at random. The great thing about this project is that writing the code should be relatively easy. This means I can spend […]
