Brand Lab II preliminary/progress.
During the beginning stages of our guide's research and design development, we anticipated using photography as a key element in expressing our tone of voice.
We looked into several photographers hoping to find imagery which was stylistic, yet had a journalistic quality. We were drawn to the work of Thomas Struth. His photographic topics, families staged rigidly in their surroundings, was intriguing to us. We looked at the concept of moving back home to be welcoming, yet slightly awkward.

After exploring further, we began to gravitate towards illustrative elements. We fell in love with the work's of Paul Davis, Daniel Clowes, Richard Linklater, and Mike Mills. Each artist was able to capture an extremely intimate and humbling aspect of their subjects in their work. We wanted to create something similar in our guide, something with fresh wit and charisma.
