(Make a Robot' is a new interactive program that makes it easy to create your own robot masks, toys and costumes -- and share your creations on the web. The program is designed to help young people (ages 3 and up) to interact with different levels of control in a program but also take the final pieces from the program and create things that lay outside of the box. Everything from 'Make a Robot' is designed to expand the imagination of younger children and let them live it to the fullest extent.
Prototypes
My intentions for the 'Make a Robot' program is to create three internal programs that exercise different levels of interaction and different forms of output. The first program, which randomly generates a mask every time you run is limits the control to only having the option of running the program and getting the mask it generates. The second program is a pick-and-choose program where the user picks the body parts to the robot. When finished, they have the option of exporting a pdf that fits to an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. Finally, the last program builds a costume that is personalized for you. The user inputs personal information such as height, which the program will generate a robot costume 3/8 of the users total height, which is fit to the torso of the body.
