Idea / Purpose
The series of programs I am developing aims to become an educational tool. Essentially, by way of the game, children and even young adults will learn how to type/spell at different levels. The game evolves with each level becoming more difficult and integrating new skills and categories. Some of these include the usage of sound/word recognition and typing/spelling.
Disguise / Story Development
To gain the interest of children, I channeled what I thought was most exciting, zombies and robots. My educational game is disguised in a single-player with light RPG elements.
In an future world, technology controls and fuels the human race. A computer virus threatens the society when it turns the once civil robots into man-hungry killer zombiebots! Equipped with your lazer gun controlled by typing series of words and phrases, you go around zapping them to kingdom come. With each level and new gain techniques, you obtain elements to retrieve the curing anti-virus and, ultimately, saving the human race!
Program
In this final version of the game, I have tried to focus more on isolating each hand to get the player used to typing using boths hands on the appropriate keys. The game begins with the left hand transitioning into using the right hand. As the player progresses, full keyboard usage is initiated.
As part of the background for the game, I tried to push the visuals to tie the elements and storyline of the game together.
after uploading, it seems to be stalling.. if this is a problem.. i have included the sketch folder. So it can be played in processing.

Prototypes
The first series of levels, will focus on getting familiar with the keyboard. Short exercises will introduce the position of keys, formation/spelling of words and phrases, speed typing drills.
The prototype I have here works with getting the basis for words to come on the screen and be typed in. As the player gets better with the game the difficulty increases.
