ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

In this assignment you will explore Word & Image in a three dimensional format, as well as brand development, system thinking, packaging and pattern design through the concept and development of a candy brand and packaging for 2 different flavors.

DELIVERABLES

  • Naming: Candy Brand & 2 flavor names
    • Memorable & tempting. Final to be presented in context on packaging.
  • Logotype and/or Mark
    • Successful at small scale & legible in all applications. Final to be presented in context on packaging.
  • Candy Emboss/Deboss/or Uniquely Shaped Mold
    • Distinct to your brand. Applied to both candy flavors. Final to be presented as a comped image rendering.
  • 2 Related Pattern Designs
    • One pattern for each flavor. The pattern must be used on at least one element of the packaging. Final patterns to be shown in context on candy packaging comps.
  • 2 Related Single Packaging Designs with Label
    • A single serving wrapper/bag/box design for each flavor. Final wrapper design to be shown in multiple 3D comps views to showcase label content and finished appearance of product.
  • 1 Collection Outer Package ( e.g. a box, bag or unique shape)
    • To hold multiple candies—you determine how many. The Outer packaging may be used for a single flavor or both flavors. You may do one or two outer packages, depending on your concept. Final presentation to include at least one 3D comp rendering to show final appearance & context.

FRONT PANEL CONTENT

Each wrapper must include:

  • Identity (logotype and/or Mark)
  • Usual name of candy if it isn’t obvious in Identity or flavor name (e.g. chocolate, or hard candy)
  • Flavor name
  • Net quantity or amount of product (e.g. ounces or grams)

INFORMATION PANEL

Each single packaging must include:

  • Name & address of the manufacturer or distributor (city, state & Zip code)
  • Ingredient list ( listed in descending order of predominance by weight—greatest is listed first)
  • Telephone number or url for obtaining nutritional information, such as:
    • For nutrition information call 800-212-4040
    • Visit MyCandy.com for nutritional information

The type size for all lettering on the Information Panel must be no smaller than 6 point Uplc, or All Caps type of not less than 1/16-inches in cap height. The letters must not be more than three times as high as they are wide, and the lettering must contrast sufficiently with the background so as to be easy to read.
